Grease a baking dish with butter.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Prepare the potatoes<\/strong><br \/>\nPeel the potatoes and slice them very thinly (about 2 mm).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Saut\u00e9 the mushrooms<\/strong><br \/>\nHeat the olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a pan. Saut\u00e9 the onions and garlic until translucent. Slice the mushrooms and add them to the pan. Cook over medium heat until golden brown and the liquid has evaporated. Season with 1 tsp truffle salt and pepper. Set aside.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mix the cream sauce<\/strong><br \/>\nGently heat the cream and milk in a saucepan. Season with nutmeg, pepper, and the remaining truffle salt (1 tsp). Optionally, stir in a little Parmesan.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Layer the gratin<\/strong><br \/>\nIn the dish, layer potatoes and mushrooms alternately. Drizzle each layer with a bit of the cream mixture and sprinkle with some Parmesan. Finish with a layer of potatoes. Pour over the remaining cream mixture and top with the rest of the Parmesan.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bake<\/strong><br \/>\nCover the gratin with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for another 20\u201325 minutes until the top is golden brown.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Finish &amp;amp; serve<\/strong><br \/>\nLet the gratin rest for 5\u201310 minutes before serving to set.
